Sleeeeeeeepy

Once again I am back to being sleepy all the time. I have been to numerous doctors over the years about this but no one knows why I get so tired. Monday night I went to bed at 10pm and woke up to my alarm at 9am -- yet I was still tired all day and was ready for bed again last night at 10pm. I woke up to my alarm at 8am. I am sitting in my bosses office after drinking 1/2 a can of diet coke but I could still lay on the floor and fall asleep.

I feel like I am getting a good nights sleep, I have dreams, I work out 3 days a week, and I am eating healthy. I am not working crazy hours a week. I think things are calm. Yet tired.

What is most frustrating is that I start to hear half conversations (and that is especially bad when working), I can't remember things I am used to remembering, I have a hard time concentrating, I feel like I stumble over words, and I stop wanting to go out with friend because all I want to do is sleep.

I don't know what brings it on and it last for generally a week to a month. If anyone who reads this has any ideas of what they might think this is or what I can do to not feel so tired please leave it in a comment!! I would be more than happy to try just about anything!

Depression of some flavor? Seasonal Affect Disorder? Living in the frozen north, where it seems like we can go for a month without seeing the sunshine, I sometimes wonder if I'm affected by it.

From http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/seasonal-affective-disorder/DS00195
"With seasonal affective disorder, fall's short days and long nights may trigger feelings of depression, lethargy, fatigue and other problems."

If you think it may be the issue, consider giving wikipedia a read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder

And, ya know, this may sound hooly-booly-hippie sounding, but some people are strongly affected by things like artificial sweeteners such as that aspartame in your diet coke. Wikipedia's page on aspartame lists http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-side-effects.html as a source. That links to a scan of some table of data related to aspartame-related adverse reactions from the FDA http://www.sweetpoison.com/articles/0706/aspartame_symptoms_submit.html

It could be a lot of things, really...but then I'm no doctor. :) I think I might visit a good/reputable nutritionist as 'anonymous' suggested.

It sounds like you're doing what I've heard to be 'good things', like the exercise and making sure to get plenty of sleep, so that's all good, but again, I'm not a doctor...this is all just my 2-cents.

Maybe some other buzzwords to bring with you to your next doc appointment?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclothymic_Disorder
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysthymia

I admit I didn't read the pages entirely, so, my apologies if those are far off the mark.

Now, before I get lost following more links through wikipedia...I'd better bail.
