Nike Run

I was lucky enough last night to go on a Nike run!! I forgot how nice they are! I ran/walked/jogged 3 miles and then afterwards they have fruit and water and Gatorade for us. They also do drawings for different things and its all free!! How awesome! If there is anyone out there who wants to go with me on a Tuesday at 6:30pm ever let me know!! I would love to go with you!

Oil Change

Yesterday I had to do something I am soooo not fond of... auto maintenance!! But, it went so smoothly!! There is a Pontiac dealership by my job at Cbeyond that I go to and they do the most wonderful job. They changed my oil, balanced and rotated my tired (of which I need to get one new... I obviously haven't been doing a good job of getting the balance and rotation done), and they fixed my driver's side door!

Someone hit it, again, in the Cbeyond parking lot and hit it just right that it would only open about 1/4 of the way. I could get in and out of it fine but if I forgot that it was broken it would remind me loudly! Haha! Everyone around me would look! But, they fixed that for me and they did it for free! You know you have a good mechanic when they do that!

I had a big smile on my face this morning when I opened the car door all the way (carefully, of course, to avoid the car next to me)!!!

The Shack

So, I must add another blog entry for today... before I go to bed (I am sleepy).

I picked up the book 'The Shack' the other day and started reading it as a fiction book that I could read in between all of my studies. Buckhead/NorthPoint Churh has graciously given me a lot of books to read about their practices, management, etc which I have been reading and are throughly enjoying however I can only read so many in a row before I want to read a 'for-fun' kinda book. Which is why I picked up 'The Shack.' I thought it would be a fun, Christian book I could read quickly and then go back to the study books.

I was sooooo wrong. I have heard mixed reviews from people on the book. Maybe I am just very young in my faith, my relationship, my trust. However, this book is speaking to me. So much so that I have turned it into a study book. I am taking furious notes. Its amazing. Its packaging up so many of the lessons that I have learned recently and adding a pretty little bow to them. However I think my head is going to explode with all this new information. I want to remember it all, but know its not possible. This is definitely a re-readerer.

If you haven't read it yet (even though I am only on chapter 10 -- about 1/2 way) I would recommend it. Even if I hated the rest I have learned a lot!

4/27/08

- having a job... in fact having 2

- VJ inviting me over for spaghetti dinner and giving me left-overs! yumm!

- the ability to read and living in a country where I can read what I want.

- the peace I currently feel about my job and life situation.

- God's grace for all the mistakes I have made and continue to make. The fact that he loves me more than I will ever be able to understand.

- Joshua 1:9

- The Shack!!

- the ability to pick this back up after a few months of no posting... oops!

I almost forgot!

So, Friday we girls decided to mix it up a bit!! We did both of our plans... we hung out by the pool until the clouds rolled in and then we took the party inside. We drank sangria, ate a salad and some zucchini quiche while watching a movie. (Can't remember the name of it but it was girly and good). It was nice to hang out by the pool however I am still white as ever! Ha!

In completely un-related news... I found new sun-dresses!! I have been looking for, like, 2 years to find some cute, cheap, sun-dresses like I used to wear as a kid and I finally found a couple that fit my adult frame (its a lot harder now to find sun-dresses that fit)! And guess where I came across them... Target! Rock on! I was walking to Buckhead Church last week and saw a few in the window for Macy's that looked cute. I may stop by there on my way home Thursday and check them out!

Tonight's plans are amazingly simple... I will go grocery shopping at Krogers before heading home and going to sleep! I love it! I am quite sleepy! Tomorrow is Monday night small group and I will be going to SATC on Wednesday! I always look forward to that. The rest of the week really isn't planned out at all, which I am loving. I am sure I will manage to fill it up quickly though!

Last night with VJ!!

Last night VJ invited me over to his house for spaghetti dinner with his family. His mom and aunt are in town and we all were able to hang out! We had a great time. And the food was fabulous. In fact, I am about to re-heat some of it in a few minutes. Thats right... he let me have some of the left overs! If you're not jealous you should be, its that good!! Hehe!!

They are back...

once again... say no.. just say no to moving into Heights at Lenox. I feel like I complain about this too often but, the bugs are back. The big ones. They were on my kitchen counter, again. I feel lost. I want out of this place so bad, but contract isn't up and I am waiting for certain events to unfold.

please pray for me.

So tired I just can't sleep...

So, yesterday I decided that it would be better for me to take a quick nap after work than to go to the gym. And that is exactly what I did. I drove the 3 minute commute from Buckhead Church to my apartment (gotta love that) and went straight to bed. I set my alarm for one hour later and I slept.

Of course Wednesday night is Sex and the City night, which is why I only took an hour nap! After the nap I went to Lynn's house for some girl time!! Lynn is going thru some crazy stuff right now so I needed to make sure I made it. I hope girls night helped!! But, it was great to spend some time with the girls!! We will be getting together again Friday for lunch and I can't wait!

But, I left around 10:30 and was home and in bed around 11. However I just laid there, somewhere between awake and asleep. until I got up at 12:30 and took some meds. I wasn't about to lay there any longer and just get frustrated being awake! The meds helped and I slept well the rest of the night. Two nights in a row and no bug dreams!! Woo hoo!

Big plans for tonight? Yes!! I am going to walk across the street from Buckhead Church and look at their shoes before heading home to do laundry, eat dinner, and sleep! Score! I can't wait. I need a down night!!

Tomorrow... if its sunny... I will be lounging poolside with Lynn and Shannon! If not, we will be doing lunch and sangria in Lynn's apartment. Perfect afternoon!

ever so sleepy...

I am exhausted!! I realized while instant messaging with my friend Marcus.

Its been a few late nights... Thursday night I went out with VJ and a few of his friends to the new Tongue & Groove. Then Friday I was busy all day and ate dinner with Angela on Friday. Saturday night was the Raleigh & Ian's house warming party and I got home around midnight, Sunday night Lynette and Shannon came over and we watched a movie and they left around midnight. Monday after work I worked out, went to small group, and ran a few errands... once again I was in bed around mid-night. Last night my friend Kedrick came over and we ate dinner and watched a movie and he didn't leave until around midnight. And, like usual... I worked every day but Friday.

Tonight I am supposed to work out with Angela after work and then go to Lynette's house for Sex & The City. Tomorrow I work at Buckhead Church and then I can sleep. No plans Thursday night. I may just go home, do laundry and then fall asleep! Love that idea!!

Bugs in my Bed!!!

I think I need help... right now its because I keep thinking there are bugs in my bed.

One of my biggest, stupidest fears is the fear of bugs. This new apartment has *helped* me in getting over the fear... just in the sheer number of bugs I have to kill. However, since I have gotten back from Italy I have been having re-occurring dreams (almost nightly) that there is a bug in my bed or crawling on me. In the dream, I think I wake up and see very large bug(s)... roaches, spiders, etc... which causes me to jump out of bed and turn the light on. Once I turn the light on I actually wake up, find out that there wasn't a bug, and realize that it was a dream. I turn the light back off and fall asleep.

Last night I had this same dream about 6 different times. Needless to say I barely slept because by the 3rd time I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something crawling around so I kept moving in bed and scratching at myself.

Even though I know its all in my head its still affecting me and I am losing sleep over it. My Dad thought this may be occurring because I was eating to late so I make sure not to eat after 8pm but no change...

Today I watched a sermon from NewSprings from their 'Man Series' and part of discussed fear and what I got from it was our fears are the 'sense of the unknown.' We are to fear (aka - to be in awe of) the Lord only. When you are full of fear God can't use you. Basically, we have to let go of unhealthy fears and fear God only.

Is that what my dreams are telling me? What advise do you have for me?

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

So, I have a decision to make. Last week while making Chocolate Strawberry Shortcakes for Kaye's (one of the fabulous ladies in my small group) birthday I broke the coupling on my blender. I did some research online and found that my KitchenAid blender does have a known issue with the coupling and I can purchase the new part for about $10 online and attempt to fix it myself. However, from what I read online it will probably break again.

The other option... I have been wanting to purchase a food processor (good idea, huh) for a while and I finally have the money saved up to get one. For a few dollars more I can get a food processor with blender.

So, do I just get a food processor and fix my current blender? Or do I get a 2-in-1 and call it good?

I think what I am going to start with is trying to get the current coupling off. Let see how it works.

I'm in a VIDEO!!

Well, more like a blog post for my church. But none the less, I am in it. Brian and I were working in the airport lounge yesterday at Buckhead when Jeff did a video blog... and used us in it. Check it out!!

Campfires Rock!

Who knew that within 30 minutes of the ATL we could have a campfire and see stars!! You know what stars are right?!?! Thats good... cause I forget sometimes while living in Buckhead. hehe! Anyway... last night I dusted off the trusty passport and headed up to my friend Vic's house. Victor, Vic and I spent a great night eating dinner (Victor cooked fish and shrimp... yumm!) and hanging out around the campfire in the back yard. And, from Vic's backyard we could see the stars. It was great... next time there will be marshmallows!!

BC Open

I 'borrowed' this from my friend Jamie's site...

Its a quick glimpse of where I am lucky enough to be 2 days a week. For the past month, Buckhead Church has been having a ping-pong tournament culminating at one of our staff meetings. It was the most fun to watch!! This is the first (I'm sure of many) videos of the final! Enjoy!!

Randomness of Me!

Today I played ping-pong for the first time at Buckhead Church!! It was so fun!! Granted I played in completely unappropriated shoes and managed to get completely stomped on but it was fun! I am so excited to be able to work there 2 days a week. I am so blessed!

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted... so long in fact I was just told by my Mom that my Grandma was asking if I still blogged... and then wanted to know if I was twittering instead! I love that she asked!! But, yes I am still blogging. I just have been crazy busy lately. Generally I have a few minutes at Cbeyond on the weekend to blog however there was just no time. I was way too busy... so busy it hurt! I am just hoping that next weekend is a little lighter!

I have a lot going thru my head lately as well. I have been heavily thinking about the next steps in my life and I want to know where God wants me to go next. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately depending on your view) God doesn't seem to talk to me in full sentences. So, I have had so many thoughts swirling around my head and I just don't know what way is up! If you want to pray for me please pray for clarity.

Here are a few pictures I have taken in the last week...

My first meal of the summer on my deck!! For those who want to know it was a vinaigrette salad with a crab stuffed mushroom! Very good!!

My new spoon!!! I love this new spoon made out of bamboo!! Very exciting stuff!!! I bought it last week while at the Farmers Market with Marcus! I love going to the Farmers Market. My fridge is so packed with food right now its amazing. Its good and bad at the same time. I love all the food but then I want to eat it all right now too... hehe!!

Last night my friend Kedrick came over I cooked the most amazing balsamic salmon with Mediterranean couscous!! It was so quick, easy, and tasty that it will be in frequent rotation on my menu. One day I will have to take a picture cause its so pretty and colorful! Kedrick brought over the dessert... a whole cheese cake!! Well, it was a whole cake made of a ton of different kinds of cheese cake. It is amazing. The only problem... he left it here and I keep eating it. I don't need to eat a whole cheese cake by myself... note I didn't say I can't, just that I don't need it.

PS I used the concept of the balsamic salmon when I made my grilled tuna sandwich today! It was wonderful!!

Tomorrow I will spend the day at Buckhead Church. It supposed to be an amazingly beautiful day so I will probably walk there!! Yippee!! Then Erinleigh is going to come over for dinner. She is so fun to hang out with I can't wait!!

twitter

I have joined another way to stay connected to people. Its called twitter... and I think the concept is to just put out there what you are doing at the moment. Kyle at NorthPoint introduced me to it... I am somewhat confused but I am trying. Either way, if you want to join go here. If you are already apart and want to follow me my username is NYCpink.

On special request from my Dad...

... here is the coffee maker that I got in Italy!! I LOVE this little thing!! It makes the BEST COFFEE EVER!!! You put the water in the bottom, coffee in the middle, and turn on the stove. The water boils, goes thru the coffee grinds, and then ends up at the top. Its amazing!!

YummmmmY!
